Richard Folta

Richard Michael "Dick" Folta, (Dziadz) age 75, of Point Place, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1936 in Toledo, OH to Victor and Cecelia (Szalankiewicz) Folta. Richard was employed as an Electrician/Gas Man for Libbey Owens Ford for over 30 years. A talented musician, he played the drums for over 70 years with many area bands, including: The Bob Zielinski Orchestra, Vic, Casey Orchestra, The Cavalier Orchestra, the Joe Raymond Trio, Chuck Dockery, The Jerry Zawodny Quintet, The Larry Richards Orchestra, The Jack Paul Combo, the Polish American Concert Band, and the Shriners, to name a few. Dick was a past Grand Knight of the St. Lawrence Council 4169, member of The Bishop Hoffman Assembly 807 (4th Degree), and member of The Honor Guard. He was also an Associate of the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania. He was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of the church's Holy Name Society. A loving husband, father, grandfather and family man, he enjoyed his music, fishing, winemaking, computers, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was quite the handyman, was generous with his time, and will be remembered for always putting others before himself. Dick is survived by his daughters, Sherrylynn (Victor "Skip") Taylor of Cranberry Township, PA and Susan (Keith) Snyder of Sylvania, OH; brother, Victor (Mary Ann) Folta and grandchildren, Sean (fiancĂ©e Janelle Pengiel) Taylor, Stacey Taylor, Christopher (Blaire) Taylor, Danielle Snyder and Matthew Snyder. In addition to his parents, Victor and Cecelia; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann (Lukasik) Folta and second wife, Frances "Joyce" (Gajewski) Folta. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the K of C St. Lawrence Council 4169 and St. John the Baptist Church will lead a rosary at 7 p.m., followed by the 4th degree Honor Guard presentation. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial donations to the family will be distributed among the following organizations: Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council 4169, and the Polish American Concert Band.
